You were struck because you are right. Your benighted aggressors, with their effort to resurrect a dark, cruel and best-forgotten slice of history - and thus their war against you - constitute painful yet overwhelming evidence of your advancement. You remain liberty's most persuasive champion; a flawed yet enormously inspiring vanguard. Along with deepest respects, sympathy and love on this grave anniversary, I also thank you for your example.

I will never forget that day for as long as I breathe. It was by no means the first attack on humanity by these cowardly defilers of life. I already knew there was a long and brutal war, abroad and at home, to be won no matter what. But after that day there was no longer any excuse for anyone not to know the nature of the enemy. And who are our friends.
I am a proud Australian. Therefore I proudly wore an US flag in my lapel for weeks after that day. Another hangs from my office wall to this day.
God Bless America ...
